The journey for the Caravan to find its way was full of late night meetings, planning and frustration along with beautiful collaborations. Harry and George are The Caravan’s guides and with their co- drivers Helen, Minos and Vangelis are traveling altogether towards the completion of the project. And so, we have turned the machines on and with our fellow passengers Kyriaki, Despina, Valia, Maria and Marianna are moving towards experiencing every single moment of this lively journey that the Caravan itself offers us.
In a spacious old van, a few years ago, five, six, ten people were driving from Athens to Lisbon…” The idea was conceived, The Caravan was about to be born, on the highway form Valencia to Seville, Southern Spain.
The concept is simple and clear. Hospitality is the people, not pictures, not fancy projects, not fancy things. It’s the people.
The Caravan works as a time capsule, a trip over time, mixing contemporary with old classical elements. Furniture were taken from George’s friends, Harry’s grandmother and Alexander’s aunt and now are placed in the cozy corners of Caravan.
History is shared among things giving a special touch but the most important element is the people. The Caravan is the travelers’ inn, a modern bed and breakfast in the heart of the city center. The main philosophy is blending travelers with locals, visitors with neighbors, friends with strangers through an open yet friendly space.
The Caravan has arrived to add passengers in its journey, its memories throughout time, its aura and it is ready to be shaped out of its guests, hosting each one of you, with your positive energy and unique personality.
Things and conditions always return to the beginning and continue from where they stopped, from an old seragio..
PS. The renovated neoclassical building located in 1 Rebelou Street was built in 1929 and originally it was used as a small “seragio”. The seragios was inns that hosted travelers. It was subsequently used as a residence for is owners. In 1998 with the decision of the Ministry of Macedonia-Thrace the building was designated as a listed property. Later in 2001 it was leased and restored by the National Bank of Greece.
