Ecofriendly GuidelinesSave the earth. It’s the only planet with The Caravan Bed & Breakfast … so save us!As part of its ecological consciousness, collective responsibility and contribution to the environment, The Caravan B&B is trying to put into practice all the necessary actions for the creation of a modern eco-friendly accommodation. Our motto “Hosting is the people” mutates and goes along with a known saying: “What is good for the environment is good for the people!” We cite below some of the actions that we implement at The Caravan B&B.

  • We apply external insulation systems that contribute to energy saving and less global warming.
  • We have achieved the creation of a pleasant indoor climate with excellent thermal and sound insulation. All doors and windows are made of insulated aluminum profiles with double-glazing.
  • Within all rooms, an electric card system is installed and the power supply is interrupted while our guests are absent.
  • We have replaced standard bulbs with LED technology and other energy-efficient lamps.
  • We have installed light sensors in the basement corridors where the public toilets and the staff’s storage facilities are located.
  • We use the newest technology television (LED) with low energy consumption.
  • We use mixer taps and shower heads of the newest technology (large diameter with a water spray system that reduces the consumption of water by over 50% while at the same time increases the speed and thereby reduces the washing time).
  • We do not use plastic plates, glasses or other disposable items.
  • There is a continuous training of the staff for energy saving incentives and prompt resolution of leaks and other losses.
  • We inform our guests how could they contribute to energy saving actions – such as the cleaning and change of linen and towels to not take place on a daily basis (there is a special brochure in each bathroom).
  • We use biodegradable toilet paper for less waste.
  • In our rooms, we have installed fan coils art colleges ECO program.
  • The cooling of all rooms is achieved via a central cooling pump (Heat Pump) which contributes significantly to energy saving. In addition, hot water is provided by an independent heat pump.
  • All public areas and guestrooms have been painted with certified hypoallergenic and eco-friendly colors.
  • A regular maintenance of the air conditioners and boilers is carried out.
  • The Caravan distinguishes the various types of waste and uses different waste bins, thus participating in the recycling program of all the materials used such as plastics, paper, and glass.
  • We recycle used batteries, light bulbs and appliances.
  • We use detergents that do not contain phosphates. They are hypoallergenic and have all the necessary certifications.
  • Smoking is not permitted in all the indoor areas of The Caravan B&B.
  • Most of the products used in the breakfast are from local producers.
  • A proper and minimal use of chemicals is applied.
  • There are bicycles for rental.
  • Lights go out automatically when leaving the room.
  • We have raised awareness of protecting the environment around our tourist accommodation. We also organize tours to neighboring areas of ecological interest.
  • Our guests are encouraged not to use the car and use eco-friendly travel methods instead.
  • In this technologically advanced era, we encourage our guests not to print our correspondence if it is not necessary.
  • Reparation and reuse of old furniture and recycling of old appliances is employed throughout our hotel.
  • Central heating and cooling system operate autonomously in each room aiming at less energy consumption.
  • We endeavor to minimize food waste by optimizing the food supplies.
